THE Awards 2020The THE Awards are widely recognised as the Oscars of the higher education sector.

Each year they attract hundreds of entries that exemplify the talent, dedication and innovation of individuals and teams across all aspects of university life, showing countless reasons why our institutions continue to prosper.

So imagine my surprise to find out today that I have been shortlisted under the ‘Outstanding Technician of the Year‘ category!

Outstanding Technician of the Year: David de la Haye

David de la Haye, Music Technician, is part of the Papin Award-winning Technical Team within the School of Arts and Cultures. David supports practice-based modules, sharing his passion for creative approaches to sound recording, and has been instrumental in his support of a variety of research projects, including Dippy on Tour, Mapping Contemporary Art in Heritage Experience and the Being Human festival commission. David has already received a Spotlight prize from the University at the Celebrating Success Awards, and is also the first technician at the University to receive research funding via a successful Pioneer Award for his project that blends marine engineering, citizen-science and sonic arts.
