It’ll come as no surprise that the COVID-19 pandemic has halted all upcoming installations, including the Wildlife Sound Recording Society event at Durham Wildlife Trust, Glenfarg Folk club with Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies and the World Ocean’s Day event at Tyneside Cinema in collaboration with NICAP and Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust. I’ll provide updates on rearranged dates as soon as practical and am working on installation opportunities for us to experience in isolation. Listening to field recordings is a great way to mentally connect with the outside world:
These are strange times indeed, but I am quietly enjoying the relief that the subtly changing soundscape brings. The slowed pace brings memories of my home island. I hope that, despite the necessary isolation, people are enjoying their brief escapades in the Spring sunshine.
I’ll post sound captured from my local vicinity over the ‘lockdown’ period.
