THE RISE OF THE HOME STUDIO

Glitch Music. That’s what my Masters at Newcastle Uni focused on. I explored the misuse of musical technologies (from notation to electronics) finding ways to reuse the mishaps and ‘errors’ of  recordings, reforming them into haunting and beautiful soundscapes. This exploration into computer-based music lead  to an interest in recording studios in general. And ever since, they follow me around wherever I go…

My small home studio has been developing over the years. My latest addition has been a set of Focal CMS65 studio monitors, which are great! The great thing with a home studio is the chance to experiment with mixing ideas without the worry of paying for expensive studio time. I believe that the mixing process is just as much a creative one as a technical one and strive to create mixes that enhance and reflect the feel of the music. Doing this from home allows for a stress free time of exploration!
